Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of peer attachment in the relationship between adolescents' perceived parenting attitudes and cyber delinquency. To achieve this aim, a survey was conducted with 292 middle and high school adolescents. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis, Process Macro 4.0 and indirect effect estimation through bootstrapping, following the method proposed by Preacher & Hayes(2008). The results are as follows: Firstly, adolescents' perceived parental affection-hostile and autonomous-controlled attitudes were positively correlated with peer attachment, indicating a significant association. Moreover, parental affection-hostile attitudes and peer attachment were negatively correlated with cyber delinquency. However, there was no significant relationship found between parental autonomous-controlled attitudes and cyber delinquency. Secondly, the study confirmed the partial mediating effect of peer attachment in the relationship between adolescents' perceived parental affection-hostile attitudes and cyber delinquency. In other words, adolescents' perception of their parents' affectionate parenting attitudes and peer attachment had a positive impact on reducing cyber delinquency. These findings can serve as important foundational data for developing counseling programs for adolescents and parent education programs aimed at prevention and intervention of cyber delinquency among adolescents.
